Colin Galitz

Mr. Galitz is in his eighth year of teaching in Burlington Area School District. In his time at Burlington High School Mr. Galitz has conducted the B*Jazzled band for five years winning a finals bid at the Broadhead Show Choir Competition last year. In addition, Mr. Galitz has also developed the Midnight and Orange Jazz Ensembles, BHS Jazz Combo, Wind Ensemble, Pops Band, flute, clarinet, brass, and saxophone choirs, directed the pit ensembles for Chicago, Annie Get Your Gun, Anything Goes, and Awesome 80’s Prom. Mr. Galitz’s Jazz Ensembles have been featured three times in UW- Parkside’s Jazz Week, won “Outstanding Brass Section” in a Jazz Ensemble at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music’s Jazz Competition, and has taken his ensembles to New York and Orlando, Florida. This last school year the BHS Orange Jazz Ensemble made it to WSMA State Solo and Ensemble at UW-Parkside after earning a bid based on their performance at the district level.
In addition to his ensembles, Mr. Galitz also teaches AP Music Theory, Guitar Performance, Behind the Music, and Intro to Pop at Burlington High School. He also performs regularly with the Belle City Brassworks, Racine Concert Band, Burlington Kiwanis Civic Band, and has been assistant director of the Junior Lighthouse Brigade of Racine for five years. Also, last summer Mr. Galitz directed the pit orchestra for the Haylofter’s musical.
